Frant Friendship Group
Frant Parish Friendship Group was established in 2010 with the help of Action in Rural Sussex. It was discovered that there was a need in the Parish for an over 55s social group.
Our Charter states our aims to be:
- To provide friendship and sociability
- Help reduce loneliness and social isolation
- Provide activities which are stimulating, interesting, fun and contribute to either or both our physical and mental well being.
The Friendship Group is a Parish community based activity and is run by volunteers. It is open to all and meets on the 4th Thursday of each month between September and April. These monthly meetings provide entertaining speakers, congenial company, with a rather good tea where one can catch up with old friends and make new ones. We meet in St. Albans Stables next to Frant Church where there is ample parking.
We also run chair based exercise classes and there is a very active Knit and Natter group knitting for charity. During the summer months we arrange some form of outdoor activity and also have an annual Christmas get together.
We have an annual subscription of £3.00 and a charge of £3.00 per session but most of our money has come from generous donations from the Sussex Community Foundation, including High Sheriff of East Sussex Award; Gatwick Airport Community Trust, Henry Smith Legacy, private Frant resident, and the School House Trust.
